RELAXATION AND MENTAL TRAINING

The first programme in the series ”Life skills training for children and young people. The reason for the series is a belief that the primary task of both parents and schools is to prepare children and young people for a good adult life. Uneståhl's research into the factors behind a good life (”high quality of life”) has shown that several of these factors should be practised early in adolescence. He has also shown that children possess a number of these qualities (”7C:s-childlike capacities” – 7 childlike characteristics) that are easily lost as they grow up and should therefore be maintained and reinforced through training.

RELAXATION FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Eight programmes aimed at learning muscular and mental relaxation. The programmes are linked to the training that has been offered in many schools (especially in physical education and sports). Here, you learn what is usually referred to as basic mental training, which involves creating an inner mental space where you can relax from stress and anxiety and prepare yourself for future tasks in a positive way.

Each programme should be practised 5-7 times before moving on to the next one.

During childhood, a basic tension often builds up, which consumes energy and causes various tension problems (headaches, etc.). In addition, performance is reduced by the tension in the opposing muscles (antagonists). This should be counteracted by systematic relaxation training at a young age.

When the body becomes completely relaxed, a feeling of calm, safety and security also arises.

Mental training is based on creating an inner space or place that becomes my own, where I can rest, relax and feel comfortable.

In my own mental space, I can also create positive thoughts, images and feelings that are highly beneficial to both my body and mind.

What is practised is linked to self-selected triggers, which can trigger desirable feelings and behaviours in everyday life.

The effect of what is programmed in can be further enhanced by deepening the relaxed state.

Here, you learn to apply what you have learned in even more situations in life.

The idea is that you will eventually be able to do the training entirely on your own. Here you can start the training with the usual music playing in the background.
